Exercise 4, Part 2: Creating Entity ID Sequences

Reference Material

Configuring ID Sequences in L7|ESP

Exercise Objectives

  • Part 1: Create two (2) new Entity ID Sequences in the Configuration app

  • Part 2: Create two (2) new Entities in the Entities app

Scenario

As Manufacturing Technicians register new Whole Blood and Buffy Coat Samples, they realize that L7|ESP is assigning the same type of generic Entity ID Sequence to both Entity Types. This makes it difficult for Users to glance at an Entity in the system and know which Entity Type it belongs to.

Your Task

Part 1: As a Super User, you have been asked to create custom Entity ID Sequences for the Whole Blood Sample and Buffy Coat Sample Entity Types. Here are examples of the sequences you have been asked to create.

  • Whole Blood Sample - WBL001

  • Buffy Coat Sample - BCT001

Tip

When configuring Entity ID Sequences, you will need to update the lims and sequences blocks of the esp configuration file. Once saved, you can assign the appropriate Entity ID Sequence in the Entity Types builder.

Part 2: Navigate to the Entities app and create one (1) new Whole Blood Sample and one (1) new Buffy Coat Sample.

Is each Sample using the new ID Sequence you configured in Part 1?
