How-to: Force Password Reset

Issue:

When creating a user, the option to select the "Force Password Reset" checkbox is not available. Are there certain conditions that need to be met to enable this functionality? If creating a user in a yaml file, how can the "Force Password Reset" option be set to yes?

Solution:

  • There is currently not a way to set "Force Password Reset" value to "true" via yaml file

  • Users should be seeded in IAM before Roles

  • Once Users and Roles are properly seeded in IAM, the "Force Password Reset" checkbox should appear (see screenshot below)

  • An Admin can then check the "Force Password Reset" checkbox in IAM and then save

    • This will require the user to reset their password the next time they login

  • It is recommended customers not utilizing single sign on (SSO) provide ESP users with strong login recommendations such as establishing strong passwords with a certain number of characters, one capital letter, one special character, etc.
