Exercise (Session 4): Creating Item Types and Vendors (3.2)

Exercise Objectives

In this exercise, you will:

  1. Create a new Vendor in L7|Master.

  2. Create a new Item Type in L7|Master.

  3. Test this Item Type by creating new Items in the Inventory app.

  4. Transfer quantity from one (1) Item to another.

Note

The Single Teruflex Collection Bag Item Type is pre-seeded in your training instance.

Scenario

In the laboratory, each Platelet is tested for bacterial growth before being given to a patient. The lab technician will test for the presence of two categories of bacteria using BacT Alert Cultures.

The red BacT Alert Culture Bottle tests for the presence of anaerobic bacteria.

The blue BacT Alert Culture Bottle tests for the presence of aerobic bacteria.

Note

Anaerobic bacteria grow in the absence of oxygen, while aerobic bacteria grow in the presence of oxygen.

It is also important for the lab manager to be able to monitor the inventory of each Culture Bottle, so that they know when to contact the Vendor to order more.

Your Task

Part 1: As a Super User, you have been asked to model a new Vendor as the point of contact for ordering more BacT Alert Culture Bottles. Using the information below, create a new Vendor in L7|Master.

Part 2: Now that you have modeled the Vendor, you have been asked to model the Item Type, BacT Alert Culture Bottles, which will be used to monitor the inventory of both bacterial tests (red and blue). Use the following design requirements to model the Item Type in L7|Master.

BacT Alert Culture Bottles:

  • The smallest consumed unit type is “Bottle”.

  • The lab manager wants to know when the inventory is below 50 bottles.

  • The lab manager wants at least 500 bottles reordered at a time.

  • The lab manager wants to know which Vendor to contact when it is time to reorder.

Part 3: After modeling the Item Type, you will need to test that it works as expected. To do this, navigate to the Inventory app and create a separate Item for each color bottle.

Record the following information when creating the Items:

  • Name of the Items:

    • Red BacT Alert Culture Bottle - 40 mL

    • Blue BacT Alert Culture Bottle - 40 mL

  • Select the Vendor

  • Enter a Lot Number

  • Mark the Item as Verified

  • Enter an original amount between 60 and 80

  • Enter an Expiration Date in the future

Part 4: Transfer 50 mL of 10X TBE from available inventory to 10X TBE Lot F57439-1.
